We met Beryl Goodhall last November 11th 2010
at our Remembrance/Veterans Day Performance.
We gathered ’round for a chat, and she spoke of her
performances and memories from bygone days…
and how the music brings us all together.
She joined us for a song and to our delight began a
kick line! Her energy and enthusiasm still sparkles….
you are missed by all who knew you.
Sparklette Mary, better known to her legion of Italian fans as “Mariella” brought along her 2 other Sparklettes to sing through sun, rain and wind at this year’s CHIN Fiera. Here we are with some fans in front of Cafe Diplomatico, who generously provided us with electricity and change room. On break we discovered that Cafe Diplomatico serves a fantastic pizza and offers a terrific selection of frosty beer!
Due to the overwhelming response to photo #11 in our Gallery… we won’t hesitate to take it off….. and in it’s place we leave…..
Aren’t they something! Conceived by Donna (the middle doll). We made the same gold and blue dresses for them that we wear, complete with shoes (we had to glue them on to their feet..) earrings, hair up-do, make up and even a microphone. Check out their video on the sparklettes you tube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/sparklettes3 (under uploads). Enjoy!!
I must admit friends, it was a daunting task to me to post something after the stunning photo of the last CBC entry….how could I express today’s performance… after well…!! the video shoot , it was fun & exhilarating…
then back to today… Ice Cream Parlour days at a wonderful Senior Center.. but as we arrived to set up and were greeted by such wonderful people and the sun beaming in the full windows and the buzz of anticipation for our performance, and for the ice cream that would follow, I felt the richness of these moments…
We sing beautiful harmonies and love what we do.. and so , (I believe) people love what we do no matter how old or young or where ever we are….. “we give and we get back” donna
So, here we are…we hauled ourselves, 2 digital cameras and 2 digital voice recorders to an abandoned ampitheatre in Humber Bay South Park (Toronto). After setting up cameras we prayed to the weather Gods for some kind of sun…and were richly rewarded with a 10 second window of sun, through the skylight of the ampitheatre, which we used for the beginning of our audition video “Black Velvet”. This is one of our entries into CBC’s contest. The other one is a sassy version of “Sundown”. If we don’t make the CBC cut we’ll post our efforts on YouTube late August. Cheers!
